They can be sprouted by placing in a container with the seed submerged in water. A spout will emerge within a few days.

Yes you can sprout olive seeds. However, olive seeds only grow in warm, mediterranean environments with lots of sunshine and no harsh winters. A well fertilized soil along with the right size of pot, or hole dug in a garden will provide wonderfull olives.
