What did you get from David Lynch's Lost Highway?

I believe that the characters are damned and doomed to endlessly repeat a nightmarish episode from their lives. They are lost somewhere in between Heaven and Hell, in something like purgatory but with no chance of getting out. Either that or the main character, Fred, is insane and completely loses his grip on reality after murdering his wife.

The best part of this movie is that you can take anything you want from this movie. I don't think this movie is meant to make sense but i took it as a man who is in love with the devil
