If the light flashes, but does not switch, then most likely it has something to do with the transfer case. It could be that the linkage is not moving, or a loose hose. If the transfer case is electric, then there is an electric motor that it uses that may need to be changed.

Several things. The most obvious one would be the fuse for it. Next would be to check all the wiring for it for fraying in the lines or a short circuit. It could also be the trasnsfer case is locked which will make the switch not work.

There are two possible systems failure. One is the electrical system and the other is mechanical system. Electrical system may be involved from the switch passing to the relay until it reaches the actuator. There may be loose contact. On the mechanical part, it simply didn't lock automatically.

The easy fix is if the switch is broken or that the wires have came loose behind it. Also check the fuse to ensure it's not blown. Bad ground wire?
