If you are using Windows, you will want to right click on the little computer icons for your network connection in the lower right hand corner of your screen and click "Diagnose and Repair." If this does not work, you will want to unplug your router and or modem, and plug them back in. Modem first / router 2nd.

There are many possibilities. It could be that your router is bad, it could be a bad wire connection, it could be that the internet is down.

I assume you've made sure your cable is connected properly. Your next step should be to get a new cable and try replacing the old one.

Perhaps, there is a network error down on your end. It may not be connected properly. Restart the power button and reattach plugs.

If its a cable, it might be a loose pin on either sides - not well crimped or a defective network card and/or RJ45 port

Have you made sure both ends are plugged in? Also, make sure it's plugged in to the "Data" jack in the wall, not the "Voice" jack (often side-by-side).

Click on the two computers icon in the toolbar then select properties. There should be incoming and outgoing packets. If they are not both high numbers then your computer and router are not speaking properly. If it says the ethernet cord is not connected and it is you have a driver problem. Your computer manufacturer website has the drivers

This could be caused by a number of things, a bad network card, bad ethernet cable, or your modem/router needs reset are a few possibilities.

It could be because of the anti-virus software conflicting with the router. Try disabling your anti-virus while you check your Ethernet. You could also try a different router.
