You probably have a heater core leaking or a related hose that runs to it as, the heater core is inside the firewall. If you have a van with rear heating there are two lines that run down near the transmission that rust out, as well.

It could be a leak in the hose. The radiator would be in front of the transmission on most non transverse models. It could also be a pinhole in the metal fitting as well.

The radiator should not be located above the transmission. If I knew the model of car I could be more exact but it sounds like you may have a leaking heater core. This will cause coolant to leak at the firewall area.

I doubt it's the radiator that leaks if it's Above the transmission. you may have an intercooler for the turbo there. And if it's Really the radiator I doubt if it's above the transmission. I never saw a radiator above a transmission, or a transmission under a radiator!
