What causes cancer of the espophagus?

My uncle was recently diagnosed and he lives a very healthy lifestyle, so we are all surprised.

There is no one cause but many possible factors. These include smoking, alcohol, genetics, obesity, eating a lot of fried meats, drinking very hot drinks but doctors don't really know.

Every person is constantly being bombarded by cancerous cells. The body succumbs to cancer when no longer able, through the immune system, to fight the multiplication of cells. The accepted standards of a "healthy lifestyle" vary tremendously, therefore it is difficult to use as a factor. If the immune system is strengthened sufficiently, the body can fight cancer naturally.
