Is there a link between high calcium count and cancer?

My mother was recently diagnosed with cancer, but she has always had high calcium.

In a word, yes. It's conflicting, though. High calcium has been linked to increasing the risk of prostate cancer. Calcium also *lowers* the risk of colon cancer.
