Intonation is very important thing to check. Play an open E chord than a bar chord on the 12th fret. If either one sounds bad, take it to a shop.

As far as maintenance goes, the guitar should be cleaned and dusted regularly, at least every two months. The strings should be replaced after every 60-70 hours of use. As far as tuning goes, the strings should be tuned every time you sit down to play.

Shine the Guitar body regularly with Orange Oil and a microfiber cloth. Each time you change strings put lemon oil on the fret-board (just a little bit) When tuning for the first time, stretch the string by tuning a little too high then go back down.
