Can you help me troubleshoot a short in the electrical wiring of an electric guitar?

When I play my guitar it shorts out from time to time.

I would unscrew where the cord goes in and make sure everything is connected well in there. Other than that I would say go to a pro so you do not hurt the instrument.

This is usually the 1/4 inch jack in the side of the guitar. It could also be a loose wire or failing potentiometer in the guitar. Jiggle the knobs and wiggle the wire, see what makes it pop or cut out. Once you know where it is, replace it.

guitars will only short if they have active pickups in them. check for any wires/solder touching other wires they shouldn't. check to see if its just a bad jack connection.

As with all electronics, tampering with parts that you aren't familiar with can harm your guitar or yourself. I recommend bringing it to a shop and letting them handle it.
