A term applied to a collection of nonspecific symptoms, such as body aches, fatigue, nervousness, sleep disturbances and digestive problems. This condition is usually brought on by stress. It can be diagnosed by a blood test and by checking levels of the adrenal glands. You may also feel weak, tired and depressed.

Adrenal fatigue is severe stress in the body. A person feels so tired they need coffee or a coke to get through the day. Some have depression and want to sleep all of the time. Eating the right foods and portion sizes is very helpful. About 80% of the population has adrenal fatigue.

Adrenal fatigue is a concept utilized by alternative health practitioners to explain lethargy and listlessness - usually right before they try and sell you an herbal supplement that purports to fix it. As a medical student and PhD student in the field of endocrinology, I'm comfortable saying its junk science.
