This sort of a situation is something you should discuss with your health professional. They are familiar with your history and other medications.

Congenital adrenal hyperplasia is normally treated with: Daily doses of cortisol (dexamethasone, fludrocortisone, or hydrocortisone) steroids. Illnesses, stress, and/or surgery require dosage-adjustments. If ambiguous-genitalia: Karyotyping determines gender; and surgery corrects appearances. Steroid-therapies SHOULD NOT be aburptly started or stopped, because of potential-adrenal-problems; rather dosages should be ramped-up & ramped-down.

Treatment is done by taking a form of cortisol i. e. , dexamethasone, fludrocortisone, or hydrocortisone on daily basis depending on the enzymes responsible for hyperplasia. Patients should also consume adequate amount of salt as electrolyte abnormalities are observed in such patients.

Replacement hormone medication is most often prescribed to bring deficient hormones back to a normal level. One or more oral drugs are used and need to be increased during illness.
