A DNC surgery is done on an outpatient basis, for the most part the doctor does not even put you to sleep. You will be given a mild pain medication to help with any pain. The doctor will then scrap out the inside of your uterus using a small surgical instrument.

I am very sorry for your loss, DNC also known and D&C or dilation and curettage is when a doctor inserts a catheter through your cervix to remove tissue.

Not med advice: a DNC is the removal of the fetus. They will insert and scrap fetal remains. Then they will suction remains.
