I think the best think you can do is surround your son with the best professionals available to you. Find a team you can work with a qualified speech therapist and a pediatric neurologist would be a great place to start. Seek information from the best doctors you can find. His doctor should be able to help you.

Having patience is the foremost tool you can have when dealing with this type of disability. Give him your undivided attention and focus on what he is trying to say. Use simple short sentences when speaking to him. Use hand gestures, writing, pictures or whatever is at your disposal to make it easier for your son to communicate.

Children with this condition are seen by a speech therapist, who uses various methods including music therapy to help re-establish connections in the brain.

Professional speech and language therapy are accepted treatments for expressive aphasia. Extensive exercise are employed, often using computer aided therapy. Outcome is not always predictable and is more favorable based on the age and amount of brain damage. Some people recover completely without treatment. Hypnotherapy has sometimes been successful also.
