I would check the fuses first, to make sure none have blown. If they're all good, I would remove the stereo with the correct tool then check the wiring harness used is the correct one recommended by ford.

First check to see if all the wires are connected. If everything is connected properly, check to see if the insulation of any of the wires is worn or ripped, finally you should check to see if the fuse connected to your radio is blown. If none of the above your head unit or amplifier may be dead.

If the stereo is working, and all of the speakers are not, the problem is probably going to be the amplifier. Once you find the amp (possibly under a seat or in the trunk) look for a fuse and try replacing it.

You have two options. If you really want to enhance your audio system to something better than what it was when it was working I suggest you take it to a specialist who installs all kinds of audio systems. The second is to check the car retailerer. You might have insurance that would cover the costs.

If you are sure it is the speakers and not the radio, check the connection for the speaker wiring on the radio.

With Ford Explorers you usually have to take off the interior door panel to gain access to the speaker. Once you do this, check the the connections and fix them.
