You must give him room to breathe. Enquire gently but don't overdo it. A man in that situation could easily become very confused and vulnerable and give him that cornered feeling. Try bringing the subject up for discussion but if he doesn't want to then let it go for a bit. Patience is key to this problem.

Man are famous for this one! You can not make someone stay with you. So the phrase "if it was meant to be it will return". Good luck!
