Probably a yeast infection, make sure you don't allow him to scratch his ear or put anything inside such as alcohol as it can cause him more pain. Take him to your vet asap but if you can't get to one right away, make sure you keep him hydrated and use baby aspirin if pain is severe.

Your dog may have ear mites or a yeast or other infection in his ear. Different ailments requier specific treatment and medication. Take your dog to the veterinarian to determine the cause and get proper treatment. Left untreated, the problem will worsen and damage his ears.

I recommend going to your nearest pet store or pet specialty shop to get some ear drops for your dog. If not, try the local vet.
