Blood pressure can drop for a number of reasons including the following: loss of blood, loss of fluids, heart failure, infection, heart failure, medications, standing up quickly, and anaphylaxis. Low blood pressure that fails to maintain sufficient blood flow to different parts of the body is called shock, and it is a medical emergency.

A sudden drop in blood pressure can be caused by blood or fluid loss, or due to vasomotor events, such as when the body goes into shock.

You can experience that from simple things like standing up too quickly or trying to work too hard. Medications can cause it also.

A heart problem can cause blood pressure to act wild. For some people, rising up from a chair too quick can make blood pressure drop and make them lightheaded.
