Is it normal for blood pressure to rise when laying down?

My blood pressure seems to rise when I lay down, is that normal?

Yes, this can be normal. Changing positions will change blood pressure in any person. Make sure your blood pressure apparatus is next to you when you lie down and then wait at least 5 minutes before taking your blood pressure and no sudden movements! If your blood pressure is still high at that point see your doctor.

No, if you are relaxing your blood pressure should be at its lowest. Now, if you are under alot of stress and you are laying down this might elevate your blood pressure because you are not relaxing. Just because you are laying down does not mean you are relaxing.

There is always a fluctuation in blood presure when you change positions. When laying on your back its possiable that your blood presure would rise because of presure being put on the aortic valve. Also circulation in your feet and legs could effect your pressure causeing it to go up.
