What can be done about scoliosis in my upper pack with arm pain?

Answer by  weeonelb (358)

If your Scoliosis is that severe your doctor could perform surgery on you and/or have you wear a brace. Also make sure your posture is straight. However, your arm pain may be caused by something else, like Carpal Tunnel Syndrome. If all else fails, just take some pain relievers or pay for a massage.

I assume you meant upper "back" and not "pack". I have scoliosis with back and shoulder pain and have found that exercises particularly designed to stretch the back alleviates some of the pain temporarily. An orthopedist can tell you if you are a candidate for corrective surgery to straighten your spine.

Scoliosis basically a curvature of the spine and is usually a birth defect. Typically, doctors recommend surgery to correct the problem or a brace to allow the child to grow up and allow the spine to straighten while they grow. If the person becomes an adult and has not treated the condition, then they should opt for the surgery.

See a doctor because of the radiation down your arms; you may need a referral to an orthopaedic surgeon. See a chiropractor regularly, take anti-inflammatories as a preventative measure if you know you're going to be in a situation that exacerbates your pain and use an ice-pack to alleviate inflammation.
