This sounds like the flu. A fever is the first sign of the flu. See your doctor ASAP. With all the flu going around you don't want to let this go til it becomes very serious. If you can't get to the doctor right away, rest, drink plenty of fluids.

These symptoms are common for many of the diseases. Mild to severe throat pain is the first symptom for tonsillitis. The pain may radiate to the ears and be accompanied with headache and fever. Acute sinusitis can also be another reason for this. Nasal discharge accompanies with the above symptoms. These symptoms also appears for influenza or flu.

Strep throat fits the symptoms present. Though some people confuse it as a common sore throat at first strep thought can be quite painful. Also consider your tonsils. Have they been removed?
