What are these flying insects with long tails?

There are quite a few of these outside.

If you live near a small body of water it could be dragon flies. There's also the possibility of them being something like grasshoppers or locusts since most of those bugs can fly if they reach maturity.

The flying insect could be a dragonfly and is hard to know without seeing a photo of the insect to identify it.

The Pelecinid Wasp is long and thin and has a black shiny body. They don't live in hives. They are beneficial in that they lay their eggs in insect larvae.

These are dragon flies. They spend most of their lives underwater as nymphs. You must live near a water source.
