In the military there are physical requirements that must be met in order to qualify for service. Some of these are: ability to walk, run, squat, crawl. Visual acuity and hearing are checked as well as blood. There are weight and height requirements which are determined by age and gender.

Each branch of the US military has separate fitness standards. You can google the most recent standards of the branch you are interested in. I would recommend the military section as it is ran by retired, current, and prior service military personnel.

The standards vary somewhat across the five branches of the military as does the regularity with which military personnel are required to pass a routine physical fitness test. All branches have requirements and standards posted online.

All branches of the service have similiar physical fitness standards. These standards have one common goal: To maximize stamina, endurance and physical capability that each member contributes to the unit. The whole is greater than the sum of its parts.
