Potential enlistees must meet the requirements of the physical exam and be free of heart/respiratory ailments, psychiatric/emotional problem, including prescription treated ADHD, and a long list of diseases (diabetes, epilepsy, asthma) that precludes service. There are rules, there are exceptions, and there is an appeals process.

There is a list of conditions that preclude enlistment. The USAF website or the recruiter can detail those. Recruits go through a rigorous physical and medical examination at the MEPS, during which they must demonstrate specific physical abilities, too. Some medical problems can be waived in a case-by-case review.
