What are the laws in New York regarding Child Support enforcement and wages garnished?

My wages are being garnished in New York.

If your wages are being garnished that means the judge decided on your case and held you liable. Most likely your child support is being taken out of your paycheck so the child support enforcement really does not figure into it. If you stop paying, quit your job and use an alias that is when they will track you down.

You can voluntarily have child support deducted from your wages. This is a great way to keep payments up-to-date. Refusal to pay child support or arrears can result in wage attachment as provided by the law.

They can be garnished for child support, that's about it. Any other types of wage garnishment must be approve by you. Not just verbally, but you have to sign a paper stating that it's okay for the company to take out money.
