If you take too much Vitamin C, it can irratate your stomache and cause minor irratations such as diarrhea. It is a water soluble vitamin so it is replenishable daily. You might get things like hives or skin irratations if you take too much and your body doesn't like it.

Vitamin C or ascorbic acid is an essential nutrient in a human diet. When you don't get enough, which is nigh impossible in America, you get scurvy. A number of prominent doctors in the 60s and 70s advocated taking "mega-doses" to prevent everything from colds to cancer, but there is NO peer-reviewed study that shows any of these benefits.
