A sales associate is the person in the store who helps you to find what you are looking for. They are the "can I help you?" person in your favorite clothing or department store. They know the store and have an idea of what goes with what in accordance to what their store sells.

Have good people skills. Be helpful without being overbearing. Know math and how to use a cash register or computer. Telephone etiquette. Learn to be visable to the customer.

At a minimum, you must meet with prospective clients or buyers, help them select what they want to buy and process their orders. You may also have to make cold calls or cold sales visits to generate new clients.
