What are the different measurements on a ruler?

The ruler is metric and non-metric.

One side of the ruler should be divided into the non-metric (Imperial) measurements of inches. The inches are divided into eighths. The metric side should be divided into centimetres, which in turn should be in divisions of ten, or millimetres. A centimetre is 0.54 of an inch.

A rules measures inches on one side, and centimeters on the other. On the inches side, things can be measured to down to the 1/8 inch. On the centimeters side, things can be measured down to the tenth of a centimeter.
