What are some tips about Texas sage pruning?

I'm nervous that I will prune wrong.

Prune after flowering. Don't try to shape it. The uneven, bushy look is part of the Texas sage's charm. Cut off dead wood, and thin, sickly stems.

It is best to wait until February or March. Cutting any other time of the year will be cutting off your buds.

Texas sage tends to grow a lot of branches if they are exposed to a lot of sunlight, and it is probably best to prune it during the late winter or so, and be sure that you prune rather lightly in order to help and maintain a decent size and shape.

The only thing you really want to make sure of when you're pruning is that you are doing it once the flowers have started and are in active bloom. Also prune the tips to give a more rounded appearance. This makes it both aesthetically pleasing and keeps plant healthy.

When you prune make sure you do it evenly all around and the other thing is only take the very tips that way the plant can still continue growing and not bleed and die back from the cuts.

First step is getting rid of any deadwood. That means removing everything that's dried up, diseased, or weak. Straighten all branches and chop away about 2/3 to shape it nicely.
