Have a solid casing to prevent ground water leakage out as it is pumped up. Don't let ground water run off like fertilizers or lawn chemicals contaminate the well. Ensure that the well is far from any septic tanks or gas lines. If the well is uphill from your home, less power is needed for it to pump water.

Shallow well water samples should be taken from the high static water level. It will collected from five different farms and some independent research institutions. Almost all wells benefit in some way from configuring pumps to maximize compression but in some cases it can make a big difference in production.

You may eventually have to dig a new well if you notice that you are not getting a lot of water out of this shallow one. A good tip is don't waste water. Turn off the faucet while brushing your teeth. If you use excessive amounts of water the well will dry up a lot sooner.
