Customary rate is 15% to 20%--however, remember NOT to tip on the tax; tax isn't something that they were serving! Occasionally, I've tipped a bit more for super EXTRA great service. When dining self-serve cafeteria style, I usually leave a dollar or two for the waiter who cleans up.

The standard acceptable rate is 15%, but I think most people do at least 20%. Think about how friendly and helpful they were. Was your party any trouble? Also, how much would you want if you were the waiter?

The standard tip is 15% - 20%. 15% for average service 20% for great service. At self-serve buffet style restaurants it is 10%.

The standard tip rate is 15%, as usual. It may seem more expensive because the cost of food and life in general has been steadily increasing. If you have a waitress or a waiter that does an exceptional job, it's standard to tip around 20%. Keep in mind when tipping that times are tough, and waiting is hard.

Usually the going rate for a tip around 15 percent. Some people will double the tax amount on a receipt to calculate the tip.

There is a certain percentage you are supposed to tip, but if you order a small meal you should still tip the wait person because they spent time at your table when they could have been helping others. Tip from four dollars to seven depending on the service.

Indeed, about 20 years ago the tip was between 10% and 15%, before taxes. Now that amount increased and tips are usually from 15% to 20% of the total bill before tax. In any case that is when you receive a very good service. If you travel abroad you will see that each nation has its customs.

I hate it when the server takes your bill and payment and says: " do you want any change back? " Why don't they just come right out and say I WANT A TIP. Sometimes I feel like saying yes..... all of it.

I hate tipping. Especially when the meals cost more than $15. 00. Let the restaurant pay their wages. Not me.
