One popular alternative to rising gas prices is the use of up to 10 percent ethanol mixed with gasoline. However, owners of Nissan's have reported that after filling up with ethanol/gasoline, they experienced problems such as their car "check engine" light coming on, pinging, stalling, sluggish acceleration, lower gas milage, and problems with restarting a warm engine.

I need to determine your Nissan's age. New Nissan cars are compatible up to 90% ethanol. Old Nissan usually need to change some rubber fuel hose. This because ethanol depreciates old rubber compound faster than usual. Some fuel line components also need change. Ethanol may cause metal corrosion. And this is true to most car brands.

The ethanol that you may be using is having certain problems with your current engine. Your engine is not really accepting the ethanol and is cause you to lose gas mileage.
