Ethanol contains alcohol and alcohol can be a very strong solvent. Useless a car was designed for use with ethanol fuel it is very bad for the engine. It can melt hose and destroy seals. So people also don't like the loss of mpg you get from high alcohol fuel.

My mpg went from 19 down to 15 with Arco gas w/ ethanol. Then I switched to Chevron w/ NO ethanol and it went back. When it started dropping back to 15 again, I checked the pump and Chevron now has Ethanol. i hate ethanol!  add a comment

To use ethanol-based fuels in your car, it must be a "flex-fuel" capable engine. Using ethanol to power a standard car will not work, and may damage the engine.

No,ethanol should be used with gasoline as transport fuel. Brazilian government has made this compulsory to mix ethanol with gasoline. Bioethanol is renewable source of energy from easy agriculture crops like sugarcane, potato.

You would have to ask some one at a repair shop to find out. Or you can look it up online.
