For the Nintendo DS, you'll only really need a stylus! Many games on the DS require the touch screen, and the stylus makes using the screen itself much easier. Second, a roll-cage or case of some sort may help, just in case the Nintendo DS is in danger of being dropped.

some of the accessories needed for the best games would be the pokewalker for pokemon heart gold/soul silver and the fingering guitar device for guitar hero on tour for ds.
