I have wood floors throughout my entire house.

When it comes to cleaning hardwood floors, consumer reports recommend several vacuums that should not scratch the floor with it's sweeper or wheels. The most highly recommended models are the Kenmore 35922, Miele S5580, and Eureka 4870.

Dyson and Electrolux make some of the better vacuums around. If I were you, I would definitely avoid a model with a carpet sweeper. You won't need that. Get one with some padding on the head so you don't scratch the wood floor. Some craftman shopvacs are even good for this type of use.

The best vaccuum cleaners for wood floors are canister types. The best brand name vacuum cleaners on the market are the Miele Canister Vacuum cleaners. They are durable and built to last for 1ast for 15-20 years. They have great filtration systems and they have soft rubber wheels that will not mar wood floors.

It really depends on your particular floors and needs. A good place to start is comparing prices, sizes, and what extra attachments the vacuum has. From there you can figure which vacuum would better fit your needs.
