I think a really cool one, though I am not sure which culture it is from, is when bodies are sent out to see and lit on fire. It is a little crazy, but romantic in my mind.
"Viking Burial" - although there is very little evidence that it was common practice - loading yourself and your stuff onto a boat and setting it on fire.
Digging a big wide hole, and burrying the dead person along with his material belongings such as : TVs, stereo system, favorite books, house slippers, a few rounds of clothes.
