It all depends what you're going to stencil. Flowers and vines look great on wood furniture, while bright colours and simple shapes make for great kids' rooms. Try looking in stenciling books or online to get some ideas of patterns. You could also use a pattern that matches- matching dishes and cupboards, for example.

I love using dolphins when I stencil. They are amazing creatures and you can find lots of stencils for them online. I also like doing native american stencils that I make myself. I have a really cool dream catcher one that I use. It was not hard to make at all using a pic printed off from online.

When it comes to making a stencil you want to look for images with high contrast. Faces are great to work with especially if the person has an interesting look.
