What are some great tropical landscape design ideas?

I am trying to bring the tropics to my back yard and have no idea where to begin.

I would have to say having some bamboo stems along the exterior lining of your back yard would bring it a tropical oriental look.

Keep your beds narrow, not more than 1 metre in width. Add large furns to the beds with 3-5 (always odd numbers) large rocks scattered in between. Compliment the furns with palms or Australian furns planted on your lawn. Mist irrigation completes the effect

Well if you want to make sure that you have some great looking landscape, you should place all the trees on to one side. Then place all the flowers on the other side. Space apart and evenly.
