Dinner and a movie are always safe choices. Let her choose the restaurant, show up on time, act with self confidence, make sure to leave a tip at the restaurant and let her choose the movie.

The most impressive thing for a first date is to plan ahead, be a gentleman, have fun, and at least OFFER tp pay for everything. Take her to a nice dinner and a movie, or to lunch and a walk on the beach. Go talk at Starbucks and then go dancing; anything you think she would appreciate.

On a first date, you should do something in which you can get to know the person as best as you can (to see if there is potential) - thus, do something which involves communicating with the person as much as possible.
