"Collar Rot" is a brown discoloration that occurs a lot where winters are damp. Phytophthora is a wilt disease stemming from soil that is too dry in the summer and too wet in the winter. Fungus can also attack your plants, with black or brown spots appearing on leaves. This can be caused from not enough air circulation.

Phytophthora affects hibiscus- a wilt disease coming in soils that dry out in the summer but are wet in winter. Avoid, plants do not recover from this. Collar rot and Sclerotina rot are caused by cool damp winters and poor drainage, and can be treated with garlic solutions and chamomile

Collar rot is a common hibiscus disease that causes discoloration and sliminess at the root joint. Another disease in hibiscus plants is phytophthora. This is soil born disease will kill your hibiscus plant.
