Sick cats, no matter what the malady, are more despondent and less active than usual. With something specific like this, they may vomit, foam at the mouth, or have irregular bowel movements. If a cat ingests rat poison, it can lead to the cat's death, and there is no quick fix at home, so veterinarian aid is required.

The first signs that a cat has swallowed Strychnine or rat poison are excessive drooling, agitation, painful seizures that last for one minute or so, muscle spasms, and the cat will be extremely sensitive to touch, even lashing out in fear and pain.

If your cat has eaten rat poison it will start drinking tons of water. It will become very weak and without a vet it will probably die soon.
