What are reasonable serving sizes for a buffet?

I am trying to calculate how much food I'll need.

Different foods have different serving sizes, consult a caterer for the reccomended rates. As a rule you should allow for the same total amount of food as for conventional dinner.

If you're making a pasta dish about 1/4 lb per person is a good rule of thumb. When it comes to beverages like soda have a 2 liter bottle per every 4 to 5 people. Remember there will be some people who don't eat much, but there will also be people who eat extra.
