Astronomy is a specialized scientific field. Astronomers have doctoral degrees; they teach in universities and do research. A college major in Physics or Astronomy leads to Astronomy graduate study. Astronomy can also be part of a Science Secondary Education major, leading to a career teaching science in high schools. Take high school physics and calculus to prepare for college astronomy.

Well the most common career is becoming an astronomist. You can also go into any scientific or medical occupation. You can become a doctor if you go through med school because you will take all the courses you would need to go into med school later on in your life.

One career that is very possible for astronomy is working at NASA. There you work with the space program. SOme people study the stars, some go into space as astronauts, some work on satellites, some study planets, some study planets and some study their moons. Some study our moon. Some visit it too.

Teaching high school and college would be good option since science teachers are needed nationally and there is always work for qualified science teachers. You would probably teach IPC as well, but that is the nature of the beast.

Write a polite letter (not an email) to Professors at different colleges that interest you and ask them that question. You may or may not get a response but if you do it will be well worth it. Consider a double major with another scientific field to widen your possibilities.
