In the Mines of Moria, the Fellowship is encircled by hundreds of goblins, which flee when the Balrog awakes. Later some are with the Uruk-Hai attack party at Amon Hen.

As 'Ruby40' said, Tolkien used the term Goblin in The Hobbit and Orcs in LOTR. Goblin is/was a synonym for Orc, but essentially Goblins are a smaller breed of Orc, as they do appear in many writings and the Fellowship of the Ring film.

Tolkien used the term 'goblins' in The Hobbit and 'orcs' in The Lord of the Rings. They mean essentially the same race, as he used the terms interchangeably in all his writings. The only distinction is that the uruk-hai are a large breed of orcs or goblins.

There were definitely goblins in the books. In the movies, there were goblins in the mines of Moria scenes, as well as a few others.

Good question, sadly no, there were no goblins. The mystical creatures involved were somewhat limited, and Tolken thought plain creatures would not fit his story.

There were goblins; they are closely related to the orcs. The figure most prominently in The Hobbit, which is the prequel to the Lord of the Rings saga.

Yes,the orcs actually were goblins. They were called by both names, depending on who was speaking. The term, goblin was used more in The Hobbit.
