You can start by checking all electrical connections to see if there is a short there. If not try to reset the computer by disconnecting the battery for at least 10 minutes. If still no avail take your VW to a shop to get checked out.

If the ABS light won't turn off, you likely have control panel issue. If you don't want to goto the dealership, check the fuse box for a blown fuse.

Well that sounds like a warning like telling you there is a big problem with the ABS system. Either check it out yourself or have a professional diagnose what is causing the trouble code. It could be something very dangerous and needs to be taken care of immediately.

The ABS system consists of rapid pressing and depressing of the brake in order to allow driver to steer during "sharp" stops. The ABS system prevents the wheel from locking up. If the ABS light is on that can mean there's a more sever problem exists with abs system. in any event a VW dealer was be consulted ASAP.

It would be advisable to check that your other electrics in the car are fully functioning. If they are, brake firmly at a low speed on an empty road.

If the ABS lights remain on after many periods of time then that is a sign that the electrical wiring has a problem, go to an autoshop.
