My dog ate a diaper - should I be concerned?

Not at all! My dog ate two pounds of mini-chocolate bars, wrappers and all! The thing you need to be most concerned with is intestinal blockage. Watch your chowhound for bowel movements. If he doesn't have one with in 24 hours then you should get him to the vet.

This does happen from time to time, especially when there are feces in the diaper. More than likely, your dog will be fine. The most likely problem is bowel obstruction. It would be best to take your dog to the vet to be checked.

Next time pick up your diapers. Since diapers are made of plastic they can get caught in your dogs intestines and cause a PAINFUL blockage. Monitor your dog to make sure he poops and if your dog looks like he is in pain or is not pooping bring your dog straight to the Vet.

Dogs love poo. There is nothing ridiculous about a dog eating a used diaper. I would definitely be more aware of where they are so the dog can't get into it again in the future. Keep an eye on the dog's behavior and hopefully it will pass easily. Otherwise, you may need to see a vet.

I have actually had two instances where my dogs have taken a poopy diaper out of the trash and ate the poop out of it and even eaten the wipes but have not had them eat the whole diaper. I dont know why dogs love poo. they are weird.

It is very likely that the diaper can get stuck in the digestive track and you should watch him very closely and take him to the veterinarian as soon as possible. If the dog show symptoms such as vomiting, constipation, lethargy or other discomfort, then it could be an emergency.

Actually, you don't know how common this is. Anybody who has a baby and a dog will tell you they had the same experiences. Either way, you really shouldn't let them eat the diaper since the dog will probably throw up, but it is not fatal.

my 1 yr old pug just ate a baby laxative, i hope that it will just react like a laxative and he will be just fine. I have tried to look it up on line but it does not seem to have happened to anyone else.
