Inheritance tax does indeed exist. Usually implemented on estates worth more than two million dollars. The tax is at the estate level or on the final return of the deceased. There is no tax on child support, and it is non deductible. Although no tax exists on child support itself, it can reduce the amount of alimony deductible or claimed.

An estate tax exists for estates with values in excess of 3 1/2 million. It's paid by the estate. This is commonly called an inheritance tax, but the beneficiaries do not pay it. It comes out before they get any money. Child support is NOT taxed.
