MRSA stands for Methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus. There is not currently a publicized outbreak of MRSA, but it is common in places such as hospitals, day cares, gyms, and nursing homes. Most healthy people carry some form of Staphylococcus aureus on their hands and in their nasal passages as normal flora. MRSA is mostly dangerous to people with compromised immune systems.

MRSA stands for methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus and is NOT a virus, but a bacterial species. It is troublesome, because it is difficult to treat with available antibiotics. Outbreaks in the community outside of hospitals have become more common in recent years. Infections occur often during contact sports like football.

MRSA is in every community and is probably here to stay. MRSA can be spread by touch (or you touching something someone with mrsa touched such as a grochery cart), or by dropplets in the air up to 3 feet (if someone has it in their nose and sneezes on you). Wash your hands, cover your face when you sneeze.
