Is there another way to potty train a dog if you cannot install a doggie door?

You can buy the puppy potty pads if the dog will be indoors when you're not around. They are attracted to the scent of them. If you have the time, take them outdoors every 2-3 hours and with praise and treats, teach them that going to the bathroom outside is a behavior that will be rewarded.

There are mats available consisting of a bottom tray that allow the waste to pass through. Some are made of a material similar to grass, some are material similar to diapers for absorption. These are recommended for dogs 40 lbs and under. However, you can put 2 together if needed.

You can train the dog to wait till you take it for a walk. You punish it for peeing inside and then take the dog outside and shove his nose where you want them to do their business. You also give them a treat if they do wait for you to take them outside.

Crate training a dog will allow you to potty train the dog quickly, and to train the dog to go potty outside only when you take him out. You need to be able to take the dog outside frequently, though. I do not have a doggie door for my Rotti and he never has an accident in the house.

I have potty trained many dogs all without a doggie door. The real trick is being an attentive owner and make sure you are getting the dog outside to take car of business and not expecting them to ask you to let them out.
