Is there an effective way to kill dandelions?

Dandelions live for many years unless you kill them the right way. I use a steak knife, which I plunge into the ground at an angle to the dandelion's taproot, so it is sliced off below ground. Then, the dandelion lifts right out, with a couple inches of root attached.

The only way to permanently get rid of dandelions is to pull the whole plant with its root intact, out of the ground. If any portion of the root or seeds remain the plant will stay alive. You can also use latex gloves and manually rub on weed killer.

The most effective way to get rid of dandelions is unfortunately to pull them from the ground as fully as possible from at roots. Even if you use most herbicides the dandelions will pop back up. But if you have a large lawn using selective herbicides might be your best choice.

You have to do a good job getting the root completely out or else they will come back. You can also spray them with straight vinegar.

There is no way to get rid of dandelions permanently. The best thing to do is use a high nitrogen fertilizer but you will need to do it every year.

Make sure the roots are dead so they can't grow back. Buy a weedkiller that says it works down to the roots. Also, dandelions spread their seeds in the wind, so make sure there are no dandelions in close range e. g. your neighbour's garden, or they'll just come back!

There is only one way I know, and that is poison. There are many brands on the market. Go with one that is guaranteed and following the directions EXACTLY!

You need to fertilize your lawn spring, summer, fall and winter. This should keep the dandelions to a minumium. You can also try a 10-40D to spray on the lawn, you can get this at a farm store.
