I think a good place to start it to see what the Amish use. They use no electricity. Google for that information.

I have seen old fashion ones. They were used in the olden days by your great grandparents. I couldnot imagine anyone wanting one. As I recall, it is almost like washing them by hand, and requires alot of work and muscle and looks tedious. It looks like you scrubs your clothes on a board, then have a crank/roller device.
